Sunshine Foundation’s activities are governed by a volunteer-based, national Board of Directors. Comprised of highly regarded representatives from the fields of healthcare, finance and community/public service, the Board meets regularly to establish strategic direction and monitor financial matters.

Michael Barr, HBA
President
Michael currently works with Critical Outcome Technologies Inc. (COTI) as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing. COTI’s business is focused on rapid disease specific drug discovery to address unmet medical needs. Prior to his time with COTI, he was a Managing Partner with the Ivey Business Consulting Group (IBCG). During his tenure with IBCG, Michael was responsible for sales and delivery of client engagements including market research reports, business plans, and organizational assessments. He provided services for both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. Michael received his Honors Business Administration degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business and was valedictorian of his graduating class. Michael has been a member of Sunshine’s National Board of Directors since 2005 and has since contributed to the Governance & Planning, Finance and Relations Committees. Michael and his family live in London, Ontario. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family. Michael also enjoys playing hockey and golf.
Jon Osier, CA
Vice-President
Jon is a chartered accountant with his own practice located in London, Ontario. He previously worked for twelve years at the London office of Deloitte & Touche LLP. At Deloitte Jon spent ten years in the tax department where he dealt with a wide range of tax issues for both private and public companies in a variety of industries, specializing for several years in international taxation. Jon is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University’s accounting diploma program and also studied economics at the University of Western Ontario, receiving a BA. Jon joined Sunshine’s National Board in March 2005. He has acted as Treasurer and now serves as Vice-President. He lives in London with his girlfriend, Janis.
Adam Jean, HBA, CA
Treasurer
Adam is Controller of Fortune Minerals Limited (Fortune), a diversified natural resource company with several mineral deposits and a number of exploration projects, all located in Canada. Adam received his Honours Business Administration degree from The University of Western Ontario's Richard Ivey School of Business and went on to become a Chartered Accountant. Before joining Fortune, Adam was a Senior Manager with Ernst & Young LLP in the Assurance & Advisory Business Services group. Adam has extensive financial assurance and risk advisory experience for profit and non-profit organizations, including the evaluation of financial, business and technological risks. Adam and his family live in London, Ontario. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing sports, and returning each summer to the Grand Bend beach where he was raised.
Suzanne Godin, LLB
Secretary
Suzanne has been with the London-based firm of Szemenyei Kirwin MacKenzie since being called to the Bar in 1996. She practices in the areas of Corporate/Commercial, Real Estate (residential and commercial) and Wills and Estates. In addition to becoming a partner in the firm in 2005, Suzanne is also a trademark agent, offering expertise in intellectual property. Suzanne also acts as counsel for several not-for-profit corporations in London. In addition to her membership with the Sunshine Foundation, Suzanne is an active volunteer with the Centre Prescolaire La Ribambelle, and the Reseau franco-sante du Sud de l’Ontario. Suzanne lives in London with her husband, Brian and their two boys, Bradley and Matthew.
Philippa O'Brien, MBA
Director
Phillipa is the Associate Vice President of Human Resources at TD Bank Financial Group responsible for providing strategic HR leadership to the Retail Banking Products and Services and Risk Management businesses at TD Bank. Philippa has over thirty years of experience in the Financial Services Industry throughout Canada and the UK. While commuting to Toronto during the week for business she makes her home in London, Ontario with her family. Philippa holds an MBA from Royal Roads University.
Shawn Melito, MBA
Director
Shawn is currently a Director with Kroll Fraud Solution’s Canadian division, a division of Marsh and McLennan, the world leader in Risk Management. He is responsible for all marketing, operational and financial aspects of the organization. Over the past 15 years, Shawn has held management positions in real estate, sales, operations and general management with The Katz Group, McKesson Canada and Byers-Bush Store Fixtures. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and an MBA from Western’s Richard Ivey School of Business. Shawn recently completed a stint as a national volunteer with the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride. He resides in Ancaster with his wife and two daughters, the eldest of whom has Cerebral Palsy. When they are not busy going to dance, swimming, horseback or gymnastic lessons, the family likes to relax at the cottage and get some waterskiing or sailing in.
Trevor Timbeck, MBA
Director
Trevor is VP of Research and Development for Itinerant Software Inc., a mobile software company he helped to start up, based in London, Ontario. Prior to his current position at Itinerant Software, Trevor worked at 3M and TD Canada Trust. Trevor is a graduate of the MBA program at Wilfrid Laurier University and holds an HBSc in Computer Science from The University of Western Ontario. He is a triathlete and he completed Ironman USA Lake Placid in 2005. Trevor and his wife, Rebecca, live in London with their two young children.
Patrick De Meester, MBA
Director
As President & C.E.O. of dM Management | Advisory, a general management consulting group specializing in revenue creation and business transformation, Pat helps small and medium-sized businesses to unleash the value within and reach their goals.
Prior to launching dM, Pat held several senior positions with Yellow Pages Group (YPG) including Director of Marketing of AutoTrader, General Manager of YPG’s online businesses including YellowPages.ca (a property that he launched in 1995), and Senior Manager of the CanadaPlus local portal network and Sympatico.ca. In these roles, and others, Pat has been instrumental in generating hundreds of millions of dollars of online revenue as an early leader in the commercialization of the internet. Pat also lead the development of the National Hockey League Players’ Association’s fan website, NHLPA.com, and launched an intranet service for the NHL players – both as Director of Internet Services for the NHLPA.
Pat holds a BA from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from the Queen’s University School of Business. He lives in London with his wife, Sheri, and has two daughters – Lauren, who currently holds the position of Chief Prosector for McMaster University’s Medical School, and Allison, currently completing a Psychology degree at Camosun College in Victoria, BC.
