Sunshine Partners

While local chapters often receive donations of goods and services from their business communities, Sunshine Foundation also has important national and regional corporate sponsors that work closely with us to raise funds and spread awareness of our work. In addition, the employees of these companies take an active role in the volunteer effort to fulfill children's Dreams.

Winners Merchants International, parent company of Winners and HomeSense stores, has been a Sunshine national corporate partner since 1999, raising more than four million dollars for dreams, and brightening the lives of children with severe physical disabilities and life-threatening illnesses from coast to coast.

Winners' annual "Buy Some Sunshine" Campaign has been going strong for 11 years and in 2010 raised over $460,000 for Sunshine Kids.

Sunshine extends its deepest thanks to Winners, HomeSense and all the wonderful people there who work year after year to help us make Sunshine Dreams come true for kids across Canada.

Since 1996, RCMP  Staff Sargeant Marc Alexander has been organizing the Sunshine Dreams for Kids Charity Golf Tournament in Pitt Meadows, BC. Marc has been tireless in support for the DreamLifts and all the children they benefit. He says it is easy to stay motivated:

At the end of the day I have many memories to rekindle my flame and energy.  It gives me the spark to hopefully get you interested as well.  Because, at the end of the day, it isn’t about me or the organization; it is truly about the kids.

Through Marc’s leadership, the golf tournament has grown steadily. It has raised over $500,000 for Sunshine Kids and sponsored three DreamLifts.

Since 1993, the Dream Tree Campaign has built a fantastic community of support and grown to become one of The Sunshine Foundation’s largest regional campaigns. The focal point is the ‘Dream Tree’, which is filled with bright lights of all colours as the campaign progresses. The remarkable commitment that this group and their ongoing supporters have shown to Sunshine over the years has resulted in many wonderful dreams for children, and their first DreamLift will take off in 2011!

The 17th Annual Wendy's DreamLift Day on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 raised another record-breaking $109,382.45 from this one-day event!

Over the last seventeen years, Wendy's DreamLift Day has raised an accumulative total of over $995,000.

The total includes the gross profits, wages and salaries from all the staff, management and ownership of the nine Wendy's Restaurants in Kamloops, Salmon Arm, Vernon, Kelowna, Westbank and Penticton, British Columbia.

The restaurants were assisted by volunteers from all walks of life. They added to the fun of the day by changing from their usual jobs in their communities to something very different: preparing burgers and salads, making fries, cleaning trays and tables and all sorts of other behind-the-scenes tasks that helped make the day such a great success. A special thank you to the Orange County Sheriffs who helped make this such a special day.

Thanks to all of you, more dreams for kids will come true.
