Sunshine's Epic New Fundraising Experience
The Sunshine Foundation of Canada introduces a new fundraising concept to Southwestern Ontario that promises to be “boatloads of fun”.
On Sunday June 26th, 2016, the inaugural “Sunshine Float for Dreams” fundraising event will see 500 fundraisers float together down the Grand River on tubes and rafts, having fun in the sun while raising much needed funds for The Sunshine Foundation of Canada. Unlike any other lazy river experience, Sunshine Float for Dreams promotes community involvement by inviting teams of up to 10 coworkers and friends to raise funds together, enjoy nature together, participate in on-water team challenges, and celebrate together at a finale “Celebration of Dreams” BBQ. With the help of community champions such as team challenge sponsor BDO Canada, Sunshine Float for Dreams offers fundraisers a fresh new way to experience charitable giving.
“BDO Canada is incredibly excited to be sponsoring this unique fundraising event on the Grand River,” said John Prueter, Managing Partner in London. “With our sponsorship, and volunteers from our London, Waterloo, Cambridge, and Brantford offices, BDO Canada is committed to the Sunshine Float for Dreams and the amazing experience it offers,” said Wayne Dunkel, Managing Partner for Waterloo, Cambridge, and Brantford.
“Our vision for this new signature event for Sunshine is that it will bring people together to experience fundraising in a fun and unique way,” says Nancy Sutherland, CEO of The Sunshine Foundation of Canada. “Our team has created this great new concept and we’re excited about watching it grow into an annual favourite here in Southwestern Ontario.”
Sunshine Float for Dreams would not be made possible without the support of key sponsors BDO Canada, Goodlife Fitness, Pacific & Western Bank of Canada, Waterloo Innovation Network, and the El Mocambo, as well as help from community partners Grand River Conservation Authority, Five Oaks Retreat Centre, Grand Experiences Outdoor Adventure, Grand River Rafting Company, and the County of Brant. All funds raised at the event will go towards supporting Sunshine’s mission to fulfill dreams for children living with severe physical disabilities or life-threatening illnesses.
