Happy Father's Day from Sunshine!

Friday, June 17, 2016

The Sunshine Foundation of Canada originated from the love between a father and his son.. In 1987, a London, Ontario police officer started Sunshine as a legacy to his son who sadly passed away from muscular dystrophy. From his tragedy grew a mission that would allow other children like his son to be able to live their dreams. 30 years later, Sunshine continues this legacy in making dreams come true for kids all across Canada.

Families are involved in the exciting experience of bringing their child’s dream to life. Sunshine Dreams are often a chance to reconnect and create special memories. Over the years, we have had many beautiful stories of kids dreaming big with their fathers by their sides.

Megan DadMegan and her dad Chuck, from Ontario went on her Sunshine Dream experience to see Taylor Swift in concert while she was on her Red tour in 2013. Her dad took her to the concert and posed for photos with Megan and Taylor at the meet and greet that night along with Megan’s aunt. Sharing Megan’s dream created a bond and memories that will be cherished forever.

Kyle DadKyle, an Ottawa Senator’s mega fan, has an ongoing fun rivalry with his dad, whose favourite hockey team is the Boston Bruins. Sunshine made sure Kyle’s hockey dream of seeing a game in a big arena would be a Sens vs. Bruins game. Even the large crowds that normally cause Kyle discomfort didn’t bother him that day with all the fun he and his dad were having.

This Father’s Day, you can help kids build more special moments with their dads by making a donation to support a Sunshine Dream come true.
