LCBO Coinbox Program
Sunday, May 24, 2015
From May 24 - June 20, 2015, the public supported The Sunshine Foundation of Canada by making donations at over the 650 LCBO stores throughout Ontario. Donation boxes for The Sunshine Foundation were displayed at LCBO checkout counters until June 20.
Sunshine is the only national Canadian charity impacting the lives of children challenged by severe physical disabilities or life-threatening illnesses by making their dreams come true. Dreams allow children to escape from their daily regimen and challenges of living with a severe physical disability or life-threatening illness and provide children with a sense of freedom, empowerment and joy. Since its inception in 1987, Sunshine has fulfilled dreams for more than 7,000 children across Canada and has coordinated 59 Sunshine DreamLifts; 36 of those DreamLifts departing from Ontario.
“We are deeply grateful to the LCBO’s generous customers and supportive staff for providing this opportunity to raise critical funds and awareness for Sunshine,” said Nancy Sutherland, CEO of The Sunshine Foundation of Canada. “Funds raised through LCBO’s Giving Back in Our Community fundraising campaign will enable even more children living with severe physical disabilities to have their dreams fulfilled across Ontario.”
“LCBO is pleased to partner with The Sunshine Foundation of Canada and support a variety of worthy causes through the Giving Back In Our Community fundraising program,” said LCBO President & CEO Bob Peter. “The generosity of LCBO customers and staff enable these charitable organizations to make a significant impact in helping individuals and communities across Ontario.”
The Sunshine Foundation of Canada is one of 28 provincial and numerous local charities that benefiting from LCBO’s province-wide donation box program in 2015. In 2013, LCBO raised a total of more than $8.2 million for charities through special programs and initiatives, of which $7.7 million was raised through in-store fundraising. In addition, LCBO’s annual dividend transfer to the Ontario government, which totaled $1.74 billion in fiscal 2013-14, excluding taxes, supports a wide range of important government programs, services and priorities, including health care and education.
Sunshine thanks the public for the donations made at their local LCBO store last spring.
