Today we say goodbye to a great member of the Sunshine Dream Team: Jen Visscher.
Jen has been with Sunshine since March 2009 and has been a strong contributor since day one. Jen helped improve dream delivery experiences and helped coordinate three fantastic DreamLifts. She always put kids and families first and received many accolades from Sunshine dream families, sponsors and volunteers.
Jen and her husband Mark are relocating to Santa Clara, California for Mark’s new career opportunity. We will miss her smiling face but she has promised to stay in touch and keep us updated on her new adventure. Please join me in wishing Jen and her husband all the best in this next exciting step in their lives. It has been a pleasure working with Jen.
I know I speak on behalf of many people when I say that we really are going to miss her.

To my Sunshine family,
(including all the volunteers, sponsors and wonderful families I have had the privilege to work with)
It’s hard to pack up my office here at Sunshine without it feeling somewhat bittersweet. I am very excited for my husband and I as we embark on this new journey, but also very sad to have to say farewell to everyone who I have crossed paths with through this wonderful organization. Thank you for being such a wonderful group to work with. It constantly amazes me how I have had the opportunity to work with so many of you from coast to coast – each of you teaching me a different valuable lesson that I can take with me wherever I go.
For the volunteers: Wow. I have been astounded time and time again how you go out of your way to make dream presentations larger than life for the families in your area. I have seen the power that networking and donation requests can have in bringing your communities together to celebrate such a special occasion. Keep up the good work for all these kids – it truly creates a ripple effect that lasts in your community for years and touches these families hearts forever.
For the families I have worked with: Each one of you have shown me something special. I have thoroughly enjoyed the conversations, the laughter, the tears and everything in between in working on your children’s dreams. You have opened up your hearts, your homes and most importantly, your families to me, and I will be forever grateful to have had these experiences with you. You have helped me understand how you cope, how your children constantly amaze, and best of all – why it is so important that the Sunshine Foundation continues to fulfill dreams for kids.
For the staff: You are such an incredible group. I have seen the passion that comes out of this office, and it continues to inspire and amaze me. From our social events to the impromptu bell ringing to celebrate our latest accomplishment, I am going to miss all the laughs, the excitement – but most of all the people. I wish you all well wherever life takes you, and hopefully our paths cross again.
