Dreams for 500 Mr. Trebek
Sixteen year old Quinn from Peterborough, Ontario is an avid Jeopardy! fan. He never misses an episode and even watches reruns online. Quinn was overjoyed when he learned that The Sunshine Foundation could fulfill his dream of meeting Alex Trebek and watching a live taping of Jeopardy.
Quinn lives with a seizure disorder, developmental delay, and has left side hemiplegia due to stroke, but despite that he “shines” as many friends say. His big smile and inviting personality is energizing. “Holy Mackerel” Quinn said when he found out on Christmas that his dream would be fulfilled.
His excitement rose when he found out that his Sunshine Dream was coming soon at a dream presentation at his local WINNERS HomeSense store. Associates created a custom replica of the set just for Quinn, wishing him a fantastic experience. His mom explains that “Quinn’s dream garnered extra attention in the local news and the amount of heartfelt best wishes has been tremendous and overwhelming. Quinn is so well loved and popular – everyone was so excited to see his dream.”
Quinn’s Jeopardy experience was over the top. He watched three tapings of Jeopardy and got the VIP treatment from the Clue Crew team. “We saw everything behind the scenes where the Jeopardy Team works. We were in the control room for the 3rd episode […] and we were given a personal tour. We met Alex Trebek after the third episode and had pictures taken with Alex behind the actual contestants’ podium where I got to present him with a key to my city,” Quinn said.
Since returning from his trip, Quinn’s parents report that he has more confidence and maturity. He now initiates conversation with younger people which he had never done before. What’s next for Quinn? His ultimate goal is to be a game show host and design his own game show, such as British Jeopardy.
