Life-Changing Dream Experiences Coming to British-Columbia

Jeudi 28 mars 2019

VANCOUVER, BC (March 28, 2019) The Sunshine Foundation of Canada is pleased to announce life-changing experiences will be happening across British Columbia this year, with the support of local communities.

As a national charity that fulfills dreams for kids living with severe physical disabilities or life-threatening illnesses, Sunshine focuses on future-looking opportunities that build confidence, independence, and optimism, leading a child to a brighter, more hopeful future.

Our Sunshine Dream program fulfills customized dreams for kids and youth ranging from a family trip to meeting a hero. This year, there are 15 dreamers from BC who will experience their very own dream come true. Some of the unique dream requests include a family trip to Hawaii, playing hockey with Sydney Crosby, watching a rocket launch at NASA Space Centre, shadowing an air traffic controller, and much more. These dreams are often the catalyst that opens a child’s world to new possibilities and impact not only the child and their family but their whole community of support.

On December 11th, Sunshine’s second program, the Sunshine DreamLift, will be taking off from Vancouver International Airport, destination Disneyland Resort, California.

The Sunshine DreamLift program is a one-day whirlwind adventure to Disney and back in just one day. With a focus on building independence and confidence, this experience is often a child’s first plane ride, a day away from parents and routine medical appointments, and a day of endless possibilities where a kid can be a kid. Children participating on this DreamLift are referred to this program by medical professionals and health care workers from Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children and BC Children’s Hospital, some of whom may also accompany the kids on the DreamLift adventure.

These dream experiences will soon begin to ignite fundraising activities and events, partnerships and transformational stories of impact that will help brighten the futures of even more young dreamers in communities across British Columbia.
