WINNERS et HomeSense - plus qu'un «petit» rayon de soleil

Jeudi 2 novembre 2017

Since 1999, WINNERS, HomeSense and their parent company TJX Canada have joined together with Sunshine to help make cherished dreams come true for thousands of children from communities across Canada living with severe physical disabilities or life-threatening illnesses. A relationship that began with an initial donation of $50,000 has grown over time into a treasured partnership that has now surpassed the $10 million dollar mark in total funds raised in support of Sunshine dreams.

This past year, WINNERS, HomeSense and TJX Canada raised and contributed over $1.14 million to Sunshine through a variety of different initiatives, including the annual Spread a Little Sunshine retail campaign, hosted by over 350 WINNERS and HomeSense stores across Canada; the annual TJX Canada Associates Central Region Golf Tournament; cheque presentations to Sunshine at store opening celebrations; a variety of internal fundraising events and activities, as well as an annual donation from the TJX Canada Foundation.

In addition to providing financial support to Sunshine and Sunshine dreamers, TJX Canada and their Associates across the country are generous in so many other ways, says Heidi Spannbauer, VP Marketing and Development at Sunshine.

“When the 62nd Sunshine DreamLift Brantford returned from Disney World late in the night with a plane full of exhausted but happy Sunshine dreamers, TJX Canada volunteers were on hand to celebrate their arrival and hand out Sunshine teddy bears as mementos of a very special day,” she says. “When a child and their family wants to celebrate their dream presentation in a public setting, TJX Canada and their Associates are thrilled to host, investing time and creativity in themed at-store events to help make Sunshine dreamers across the country feel celebrated. And, when Sunshine wanted to celebrate its 30th birthday with a memorable event, TJX Canada gave time, energy and talent, partnering with Sunshine to coordinate and stage an event that helped raise awareness and funds for Sunshine while setting a Guinness World Record for the Largest Human Image of a Sun. These are just a few examples of what makes the partnership between TJX Canada and Sunshine so special.”

It’s thanks to the generosity of organizations like TJX Canada and their Associates that Sunshine has been able to provide more than 8,000 life-changing dream experiences for deserving kids over its 30 year history, says Nancy Sutherland, Sunshine CEO.

“We are incredibly grateful to TJX Canada, WINNERS and HomeSense management and Associates for all that they have done, and all that they continue to do in support of our mission,” she says. “We are partners in the truest sense of the word, and for that we are extremely grateful. Surpassing $10 million in total contributions from one of our longest-standing supporters in the same year that we celebrate our 30th birthday, gives us even more reason to celebrate. The funds that have been raised by TJX Canada, their Associates and customers this year, and in years past, have had and will continue to have a real impact on children’s lives, allowing them to write a brighter future story for themselves by providing them with life-changing experiences that inspire confidence, optimism, and independence.”
